thanks a bunch!

My two boys are participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life this May in honor of my grandfather who passed away last year, after suffering for over 3 years with lymphoma.  They received numerous donations and surpassed their fund raising goal ($100 each).  I wanted to make thank you cards for the boys to write a note in for each person who donated to them so I made 6 cards this week.  I did all of the cuts from Walk In My Garden then I took them and all of my supplies with me to baseball practice Monday and Tuesday evening!  Last night I added the stickles and they were done.  I love being able to multi-task and get some stuff done while also watching the boys at practice!  I hope the cards show how much we appreciate their donations.  TFL.

Miss You Tons!

I wanted to make an elephant card for a good friend of mine who I have not seen in person in over a year (she loves elephants) so I made this quick card yesterday to send her a little note to let her know my family misses her family and hopefully we can get together soon (we live about 2.5 hours away from each other).  Hope to get it in the mail today.  I used Create a Critter and Cricut Markers (for the words).  TFL.

Thank You (Ewe) Card

My crafy and talented friend Stephannie crocheted my son's class 5 sheep for his First Penance ceremony a couple of weeks ago.  She had done this for my oldest son's class when he was in 2nd grade also.  I actually did attempt to learn to crochet in the 2 years between my two sons First Penance ceremonies but it is not a skill I have been able to pick up yet (I blame it on being left handed but using my right hand for a lot of stuff so my hands get confused :)).  I was so thankful to Stephannie for being so generous with her time so I wanted to make her a card.   I of course had to use a sheep :) (I used Create a Critter).  I was originally planning on using the "Thank Ewe" sentiment but I just went with the regular old Thank You for the card.  It is simple but I love the black and white polka dots!  Also, here is a pic of the sheep Steph made, aren't they adorable.  TFL.

St. Patrick's Day Part 2 :)

So I think maybe I overdid it for St. Patrick's Day this year...but the kids enjoyed it :)  I ended up making the boys a small little goodies using the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge and just attached a think of mentos to the back.  I put them on their seats in the car before I picked them up from school, they loved the little surprise.  My won son loved it so much he took his leprechaun to school the next day to show his friends.  So sweet.  We also did the green macaroni and cheese.  It was just as delicious as when it is the regular old white receip I use (Ina Garten's recipe, it actually has tomotoes and bread crumbs on top but I did not take a picture after I did that part).  My hubby also made himself some green beer to go with his card I made him.  I could not decide which card to use from the Spring Holidays Cards cartrdige so I did a double sided card for his using the 2 I could not decide between!  Hope everyone had a great St. Patrick's Day!  TFL.

St. Patrick's Day

Even though I am not Irish, I have always loved St. Patrick's Day.  Maybe because our Parish for so many years, where we were married and where all 4 of my children were baptized was St. Patrick's Catholic Church or maybe it is because green is one of my favorite colors!  I have always done silly stuff for my kids, like making food green, so of course they wanted some green stuff this year.  For school I do green cream cheese on bagels for lunch.  I also attempted green popcorn (not that successfully).  Tonight for dinner there will be green macaroni and cheese and green eggs (and a pork loin but no attemp at making that green :))

Also, the kids (my 7 year old started the idea) wanted to make t-shirts to wear to school because they were having a tag (out of uniform) day to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and to raise money to send to the Japanese and New Zealand Earthquake Victims, so I printed and cut out printed 2 shamrocks from the Spring Cards cartridge on my Cricut Imagine and put those on the girls shirts and they also helped color some too (using fabric markers) and we used a little bit of fabric glitter for the pot of gold :)

Lastly, I wanted to make something for my children's teachers and the administrative staff.  I found this cute idea on http://paperboutique.blogspot.com/2011/03/saint-patricks-day-candy-box.html so I made some Hershey Nugget boxes for the teacher's.  I bought the patterned paper at AC Moore, I cut the scallops in white and green (Creative Memories paper) from Winter Woodlands and then I used a $1 stamp (that I got for $0.60) from AC Moore.  I used pop dots to put on the scallops.  For the back closure I used a cute small button brad I had in my stash.  Happy St. Patrick's Day and TFL.

Lucky Streak!

I try to win everything I can online, scrapbooking items, stamps, cartridges, etc.  Recently I have managed to win two wonderful "items" that have really benefited my entire family...but having nothing to do with crafting, LOL.  Two weeks ago I won (through Facebook) an opportunity for my family to be the VIP family at our local Mardi Gras Parade.  This meant our entire brood got to ride on the parade float.  Let me tell you, my boys were BEYOND excited (my niece came to watch but was able to ride with us also).  They got the biggest kick out of that.  We also won 6 passes to the Circur for later this month or next month (whenver we choose to go).  Then last week I won a gift certificate (through a blog but I found about the contest on Facebook) for a local photographer who takes amazing photos (I am SO excited to get some great pictures of the kids).  I hoping my lucky streak will continue and I can win some stamps or a new cartridge here soon :)  Here are some pictures from the parade:

I will be sure to post pictures from the photographer after our April 3rd photoshoot :)  TFL.

Bake Sale!

My sons 4th grade class is having a bake sale today so I made some (yummy) chocolate chip cookies (sorry I forgot to take pictures) and some cupcakes.  The theme is Mardi Gras so I used my Cricut Sweet Treats card to cut cupcake holders, then I used Don Juan to cut out the fleur-de-lis on 2 sides (if I had planned better I could have designed it on my Gypsy but it was last minute...it still works out).  I used the cutouts to decorate the mini cupcake holders so it worked out well.  I thought they turned out cute.  I also attempted to cut some fleur-de-lis from fondant on my Cricut Cake, I got a couple out but it was late and I was having trouble (I have not mastered the texture that the fondant needs to be to cut well yet).  It was fun trying and I had some helpers (my two girls).  TFL.

Baby Bump

A young lady in my office recently told me that she is pregnant so of course I wanted to make her a card. Unfortunately I did not have any cartridges with a pregnant lady image on them...but of course my friend Stephannie came to the rescue with Going Places! Here is the quick card I made. TFL.
