Altered CD Case

Hello!  My girlfriend Stephannie made me the cutest altered CD case with a Starbucks gift card in it (you can see it here) and she also gave me some empty CD cases to use myself so when I need a gift card holder for my son's good friends birthday I new I wanted to use one!  I used Stephannie's as inspiration.

I hand cut the paper just using the case for measurement for the front and back covers (put inside the CD case), I used some sports themed paper I bought years ago from AC Moore for the football patterned paper, then I cut the football for the outside from Sports Mania Cricut Cartridge and I embossed it used my Cuttlebug.  I used My Creative Time's All Around Birthday for the Happy Birthday circle stamp and then I used the football from My Creative Time's Touchdown stamp set for the center.   I used the My Creative Time's gift card die to cut my giftcard holder for the inside and stamped it with the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Gift Card Sentiment stamp set.  I added some faux stitching with my white gelly roll pen and some more of the football themed paper.   I used a few glue dots to stick the gift card holder on and filled it with a Sports Authority gift card (it is getting hard and harder to buy for my 11 year olds friends but they all love sports!).  I hope he liked it!

Quick Sports Themed Gift Card Box

I used Sports Mania to cut out two footballs to decorate this little gift box (I used Art Philosophy for the box but you could find a template online or use another cartridge). I embossed the footballs after I cut them and then I ran them through my Xyron to ensure they would stick completely. I finished off the box with some football ribbon :) This is for a gift card for my son’s football coach but could easily be for a boys birthday also.  I just saw on the My Creative Time sneak peak for this week she has some coach's and sports sets coming out this week, so those would compliment a box like this!  Be sure to check those out.  I may have to order them and add a nice little tag to this gift :)  Thanks for stopping by, if you want to see other projects I have made with Sports Mania, stop by Cooking with Cricut today for the Sports Mania cartridge spotlight!

Shaped Card using Cricut Craft Room

So I immediately downloaded the Cricut Craft Room software last night when I saw it was up and running!  I knew I needed to make a card for my sons football coach so I thought this would be perfect.  I decided to do a football helmet shaped card.  I used Cricut Craft Room to weld the helmets and to size the layers using the Sports Mania cartridge.  I then used Varsity Letters for the BEARS letters and Four Legged Friends (which I almost did not buy because I have NO pets but I got it for $13 so I could not pass it up) for the paw which I tried to stretch and make it look like the one on my sons helmet!  I love being able to weld and make shaped cards like this. SO cute...or SO tough (since it is football, LOL).  TFL.

Note Cards For My Boys

As I have mentioned (probably way too many times, LOL) my hubby and I are going away (kidless) next week.  I wanted to leave something for my boys so I decided to make them little notes to leave under the pillow the first night and in their snack bag for school (I am packing the non-pershible parts of the snack for each day before I leave so my mom can just add the fruit and juice box) for the rest of the days.  I just ordered the Our Kids set from Pink By Design and knew it would be PERFECT for this project. I wanted to do a sports them because they both loves sports so I used Sports Mania to cut out the football and basketball at 2.5 inches and then I had some baseball paper scraps that I used.  I stamped each one and wrote a note to each one of them (some reminding them to behave for the Maw while we are gone :) but mostly telling them we love and miss them).  I forgot to take a picture before I started writing so you get to read the one I am writing to leave under my one sons pillow because he has a football game that day.  I made two sets of what you see in the pictures, one set for each son.  My daughters are too young for something like this but maybe when we go away for our 20 year anniversary in another 10 years I will do it for them, LOL.  TFL.

 

CCR Sports Theme Challenge

So I do not usually enter challenges because I usually cannnot make the deadlines, LOL.  But I saw this one today at Crazy About Cricut and Creative Cutter Room http://www.creativecutter.org/ and knew I could come up with something quickly so I came up with this pillow box.  Would be a great party gift for a baseball team celebration.  I overlayed the letters for the word CHAMPS from Varsity Letter on the pillow box (from Girls Make Up Party).  I then taped a piece of white paper on the inside before I assembled the box.  I used Sports Mania for the bat, I would have used it for the baseball but I had these cute baseball puffy stickers so I decided to use that, I put a ribbon around it but tied it in the back so it would not block the front.  TFL.

Kyle's Great 8! (Part 1)

Hello everyone!  I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!  We were on our annual vacation in the OBX which was wonderful (we have been going now for 8 years).  My sons birthday was this week and his party is Saturday so I am gearing up for his Great 8! (he is turning 8 and although Ovechkin is the Great 8 in Hockey we are having a water baseball party using the Great 8 saying).  My 8 year old LOVES sports, he always has a ball in his hand so we decided to have a water balloon baseball party (play wiffle ball but with water balloons).  On his birthday we went to a local Collegiate League Baseball game and had some ice cream brownie cupcakes I made (first time and was super easy and they loved them).

 

As for his party, so far I have made this banner using Varsity Letter and Sports Mania along with some ribbon I had purchased at AC Moore for my other sons end of the year baseball party sour cream containers, next I will be working on the party favors next.  I will post those once they are done (hopefully before the party, LOL). Also, here is our annual family pic from the beach!  TFL!

Relay for Life

This past weekend my sons, my sister-in-law, my niece, my mom, my aunt and a couple of friends participated in the Relay for Life in honor of all who suffer from Cancer but mostly in honor of my Grandfather who passed away last year after suffering for years with non-Hodkins Lymphoma.  Although I was not officially on the team (I signed the boys up to represent us all) I did most of the work on the boys behalf (except the actual walking the laps, LOL).  I made a banner of our team "logo" To Hail With Cancer,  which I really enjoyed making and am very proud of.  I used my Gypsy to plan it all out, the Sports Mania cartridge for the triangles (using the hidden contour feature), Old West for the letters and Create a Critter for the clouds and umbrella.  I think I may have used it for the snow flakes also but I am not sure about that.  I added clouds after I took the "final" picture so I took a picture of that portion.  I made those pieces of the banner to divide the words.  I hope to make another banner using the same base (different colors) for my daughters upcoming 2nd birthday!  

 

  

  

 Also, as a part of the Relay for Life we had an onsite bake sale. I made cupcakes and cookies.  For those I made little cupcake toppers using our team "logo" To Hail With Cancer that my sister in law made and I made little cookie pouches using those stickers I made and CD envelopes.  I used my Cricut after I printed the stickers on 8 1/2 X 11 stickers sheets to cut out the circles using the center cut option which I LOVE!  TFL.

 

Our Vancouver Canuck

A few months back my 2nd grader had international night.  He chose Canada because is OBSESSED with Canada and hockey (we have never been to Canada but I keep promising him we will go one day on a family vacation).   As a part of international night he had to make a paper doll to represent his country.  Of course he wanted to make a hockey player so he did a Vancouver Canuck.  The helmet and skates are from Sports Mania.  He loves this "doll" and was super excited when it finally came home from school last week.  It was perfect timing.  Although we are upset our Washington Capitals were kicked out of the NHL playoffs in the second round he is super excited his other favorite team, the Canucks are still in it. TFL.

Baseball Season, Is It Really Over?

Both of my sons played baseball this year and I think my husband and I enjoyed it more than they did, if that is possible.  For the end of the year parties I wanted to make something special so for my 6 year olds team I coordinated the gifts and made cards (which I forgot to take pictures of) but also made little mini cupcakes that looked like baseballs and I cut out little baseball gloves from Sports Mania and put them on the gloves on a tray, I took the liners off so the kids could just grab one and munch away.  For my older sons team I made sour cream containers with a baseball eraser and Hershey Kisses inside, both were a big hit.  Here are pictures of them both:

My Baby Boy Turned 9!!!!

Yesterday my oldest, my very first baby, turned 9.  For some reason I am having a hard time with it.  I think it is because double digits are next.  NOOOO!  In celebration (and because he was supposed to have a baseball game) I made some baseball cupcakes (baked in cake cones) and cut out baseball gloves from Sports Mania, cut a hole in them and put the cones in so it looked like a baseball in a glove.  I thought they turned out very cute!  They were also yummy!  The kids (and grown-ups) enjoyed them.  His party is this Sunday, I am not sure what I will make for those but I am sure some how the Cricut will be involved!
